I've been re-reading the original Dune series again and was inspired to do some Fremen fighting Sardaukar. The Sardaukar is based on Jean-Giraud Moebius' design for the aborted Jodorowsky Dune project.

The Fremen are probably getting worried about all the spilled water/wasted blood at this point LOL.

Thanks! Yeah, this was mostly a composition study, something as iconic as the Fremen and their stilsuits would take quite some time to design properly.

LOL, well I wasn't thinking of her specifically, but there's definitely a little child with a knife there holding the Sardaukar's arm while stabbing him :D...

Heaps good picture and all

but one small detail just keeps nagging at me. Would the fremean have any skin visible for perspiration to escape from?

Thanks! From what I recall, the Fremen only expose their hands for something delicate, usually, they wear gloves. For their heads, its mentioned that their mouths are covered, but I think they would occasionally wear clothing (such as a burnoose) over their heads. I don't think they are described as being fully covered from head to toe.

I think that maybe they would only be covered from head to toe for desert travelling i.e. when it's at its hottest. but yeah stillsuits do have the entire body (except for the eyes)covered as can be seen on the cover of the first book (or at least on my copy of it)

but for battle I'd have to agree with you as water conservation might not be on that guy in the pics highest priority

Interesting, I looked up some of the old art (mostly Schoenherr), and yes, they are depicted with hoods/head covering. I guess I've been looking up written description and have not found that to be the case. Thanks for the tip!
