A school assignment for my Advanced Perspective class. The exact subject matter was open, though the theme was the story of the Ark. This was my sci-fi take on it depicting an engine room of sorts.

Gladly. I'll Be sure to include credit to your name and original concept along with my finished piece.

I'm just now realizing that this is 2 point, rather than 3 point. I like the look of it, so I'm probably going to bend the models a bit to simulate the angles that you have in true perspective.

Love the piece!

This is exactly the kind of class I should be taking. What's the tuition like at the school you're at?

It's about half of the tuition compared to most private art schools, which is why I decided to go to it. It has a mixed reputation because of the fact that it has an open admission policy, which basically means that you don't need a portfolio to be accepted. This, I hear, is going to be changed soon. With a portfolio, it is possible to skip a ton of foundations classes and save a lot of money, which is what I did. I think that, with enough self-motivation and desire, you can get a good art education at most art schools.

Keep in mind that this is just a Advanced Perspective class, though design and composition are included, they are not the primary subjects of the class... actual Character and Environment design classes come afterward. If you want to come by to SF and check it out, let me know. It's the same school Jason Chan went to.

I'm actually still trying to milk those Gnomon DVDs for all they're worth. They're still cranking them out, but I haven't bought a new one since the Puddnhead ones came out a couple years ago. I'm trying to get back into the John Brown sculpting DVDs now. There's just so much stuff I need to improve on, it's nuts. Having already graduated from one art school, I don't really feel like enrolling in another. The demands are just much higher nowadays than they were, I guess, 20 years ago in a lot of art industries.

I hear ya, whenever I look at classifieds for jobs, they are always asking for traditional skills as well as modeling skills, 3D and otherwise. Though I guess this is the "ideal" candidate, and not necessary a requirement for employment.
I could have gone the Gnomon route, but I'm not a very disciplined guy and need that stress to get shit done, hence going back to school.

Woah, looking amazing as well. I like your choice of color tone for this, adds a lot of atmosphere to the somber technical interiors (of a ship, perhaps?). Once again, the perspective is depicted masterly.

Thanks!! Yeah, I wanted to do something a bit monotone... partly for mood, partly so that I can cram for my deadline this Saturday, LOL.
