Another character inspired from Roger Zelazny's Lord of Light novel, Gaanesha: Remover of Obstacles. The character description in the book is very vague, suffice it to say, I took many liberties in this design, especially the weapons.

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, a lot of people don't understand that I am not trying to be accurate in the way I am painting these characters, these aren't the Hindu gods but characters from a sci-fi novel. Thanks for understanding!

@Bronxgodzilla You are disrespecting HINDUISM ,You do not know anything about GANESHA/SHIVA or PARVATI ,
Please clear your concepts by reading some real HINDU Knowledge base ,or consult with me before assuming anything ,What If I make some S**T comments on ZEUS/Yeshu

How do you figure that he is disrespecting the story? Are you saying that what he wrote does not describe the mythology of Ganesha? As far as I know, it's pretty accurate. Oh, and feel free to talk about Zeus and Yeshu... nobody believes that Zeus is real anymore, and not everyone thinks that Yeshu is necessarily an historically accurate figure. Either way, it's free speech.

I don't think the way you have represented the GANESHA is right ;Religions come from the emotional quotients and beliefs of a community ,I dont know you have respect of your religion or not but we have so the comment was there ;but your representation of GANESHA may hurt it ,As per my knowledge and also being a HINDU Brahmin ;The Bedroom story told by him is fully wrong ,Ganesha has a Face of elephant its true ,but story was that Ganesha was protecting Parvati while she was bathing by standing at the gate of Cave where SHIVA PARVATI were living ,GANESHA was unaware of SHIVA as his father and stopped him to enter while her mother is bathing, and for this the crucial fight started .....Its free speech ,but respect is necessary .

First of all, did you read the description of the painting I did, or did you just assume that it was meant to be an accurate/traditional representation of Ganesha? This is a painting based from a modern, fictional description, a science-fiction story, not from any proper religious text. Too many people get offended easily, especially when they do not understand the proper context. I'm sure you will get offended again when I do a female version of Brahma, based on the same science-fiction story.

As for the details of the story, I have no idea... very few people in the west have studied the Hindu religion in depth. Those that have often learn information that is filtered through many layers. The one I know of is the one you described, and I only know that from reading the Amar Chitra Katha comic books. Regarding free speech and respect, this is a common dispute... one often needs to express him/herself in ways that might offend someone. It is a complicated subject that I would rather not discuss on a website about art, which, by it's definition, needs to condone all kinds of things that might be considered offensive. Disrespect is a tradition into itself... there are many writers, artists, and free thinkers that satirize and criticize Christianity in the west.

I am agreed with your thoughts ,but we understand our gods by reading OLD testaments and Purans not AMAR CHITRA KATHA ,We also have so much philosophies on GODS and their character although we never seen them ,but all this is related to the belief in our mindset from our birth ;whatever I have written is my tendency to respect my thoughts not only my but HINDUISM's thoughts,No offenses. You are creative and good designer ,but try to go in-depth of the concepts, and learning good and genuine will help you to do so .....please dont read AMAR CHITRA KATHA ......My recommendation ,Go for BHAGWADGITA /RAMAYANA/VISHNU PURAN/SHIV PURAN/ for real output

Thanks, I will worry about research and accuracy when I paint about proper Hindu mythology. I don't necessarily think I have to worry about it when painting Western science-fiction, however.
