This is really really good. It's actually what I imagined the scene to look like in my head. :)

What do the words around his head mean?

Nothing, just made up using a Sanskrit-style font that I found. It would be cool to actually understand the language, LOL.

LOL, did you read the book? If you did, just wondering how you envisioned it in your mind...

I envisioned that yama was astounded by the Buddha's serenity and peace even upon his approach and that is captured by your picture amazing

Cool, it's awesome that you read the book and can relate to my picture as well... it's easy to get caught up with ones own imagination and not appreciate someone else's interpretation of the source material... I do it as well.

Yeah, since I've never used Painter, I'm trying to get that look down with textures.

Very cool I realy like the sky poking through the top of the "tree".

Thanks! I actually saw the tree as some sort of weird bio-luminescent alien thing, generating its own light source. The actual sky is visible in the background and it is a sunset-pink/purple of sorts. The tree is suppose to be akin to the "Bodhi Tree" of Buddhist religion, where the Buddha achieved enlightenment.

The coloring on Buddha looks good and so does the background but I think Yama looks a bit muddy. Were you trying to go for a red ambient light with him? Well anyways if you have time I think if the highlights on Yuma were touched up a notch this would really make it pop, like always just a suggestion..

Due Saturday, LOL... not much time to finesse, but maybe afterward...
As it is, though, I think he stands out from the rest of the scenery fairly significantly already, which was my intention.

Tertiary colors baby!!
It's all about the fact that so much of the story is based on Indian culture, hence the riot of colors.
